A missile strike in Russia’s Oryol hit the Proton plant, which manufactures electronic components for weaponry. This was reported by the Exilenova+ monitoring channel.

According to eyewitnesses, four missiles struck the plant. Russian media and the regional governor have also reported the facility was hit.

Proton JSC in Oryol specialises in the full-cycle production of optoelectronic equipment – from crystals to finished products. This is stated in a register of enterprises linked to the production of Russian weapons, maintained by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

According to the register, the plant produces the 2M420A4 diode module for the S-71K “Kover” air-launched cruise missile and the 249LP5 switch-inverter for the Iskander-M missile system.

The enterprise also produces electronic switching modules and integrated circuits for the Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system.

In September 2025, the United Kingdom added the enterprise to its sanctions list for operating in the defence and electronics sectors.
