In Tolyatti, in Russia’s Samara Region, a drone attack has set the Tolyattikauchuk plant on fire. This was reported by the monitoring channel ASTRA.

Local Telegram channels reported overnight that drones were attacking and that there were numerous explosions. Preliminary reports suggest the city’s industrial district was hit.

According to ASTRA’s OSINT data, the fire broke out on the grounds of the Tolyattikauchuk plant itself, located at 8 Novozavodskaya Street.

According to local residents in chat groups, the street near the facility was cordoned off. There were also reports of a possible strike on the Tolyatti CHP plant located nearby. City residents reported disruptions to electricity and water supplies.

Since 2019, the Tolyattikauchuk company has been part of the Tatneft group. The plant produces synthetic rubbers, monomers, hydrocarbon fractions and additives for motor petrol.

The synthetic rubbers produced by the facility are also used in the manufacture of solid rocket propellant for tactical and ballistic missiles.

On 12 September 2026, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that this facility had been hit. At the same time, ASTRA’s OSINT analysis at the time pointed to a fire in the area of the Russian petrochemical complex KuibyshevAzot.

Also, according to Exilenova+, in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, the 500/220 kV “Taman” substation near the Kerch Strait was hit.

Satellite data from NASA FIRMS, which records thermal anomalies, supports reports that the site was struck. The substation provides electricity transmission from southern Russia to temporarily occupied Crimea.

According to Exilenova+, there is a major blackout in occupied Crimea. The monitoring project NetBlocks also recorded internet traffic on the peninsula falling to almost zero.

Information about the causes and scale of the power outages requires further clarification. NASA FIRMS thermal-anomaly data does not in itself confirm the nature of any damage to the substation, and a sharp drop in internet traffic is not, on its own, confirmation of a complete loss of power across the whole of Crimea.
