Moldovan police, together with officers from the Information and Security Service and prosecutors, have uncovered a group of individuals suspected of preparing violent acts and mass unrest.
Law enforcement officers carried out searches in Chisinau, as well as in the central and northern districts of the country, Newsmaker reports.
According to investigators, since October this year the members of the group had been planning violent actions for money. To do so, they created several fake social media accounts through which they tried to recruit young people to protests that were intended to escalate into unrest. The suspects posted calls for violence and used manipulation to conceal from young people the real consequences of their actions.
Police уточнили, that during investigative measures they seized evidence confirming preparations for unrest.
At present, those involved in the case are cooperating with the investigation.
- Meanwhile, a wave of protests has swept across Europe against the rising cost of living and problems in education. In a number of countries, peaceful demonstrations escalated into unrest and riots.
