Natalie Ann Jaresko

Education


Born in the USA to a family of Ukrainian immigrants. Received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from private DePaul University  (Chicago, Illinois) in 1987 and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1989.

Career


Over 20 years of work experience in Ukraine, including with the Economic Section of the US Embassy (1992-1995).

In 1995, she was a regional investment manager at the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF) operating in the CIS countries, and in 2001, headed the WNISEF.

In 2003, the president of Ukraine awarded Jaresko the Order of Princess Olga for her contribution to the development of the Ukrainian economy. She was also a member of President Viktor Yushchenko's Foreign Investors Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of the Ukrainian Centre for Promotion of Foreign Investment under the Cabinet of Ministers.
In 2006, after the Orange revolution, Natalie Jaresko founded her own investment management company Horizon Capital. The first Emerging Europe Growth Fund (EEGF) of Horizon Capital raised 132m dollars. In 2008, the EEGF II was launched with the volume of 370m dollars. 

Horizon Capital owned shares in such companies as Agro-Soyuz, Datagroup, Vitmark-Ukraine, Inkerman (the largest wine manufacturer in Ukraine), Shvydko, TKS Bank, MTBank (Belarus), Vostokfinance Group, Biofarm and others.

On 2 December 2014, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the decree to grant the Ukrainian citizenship to Natalie Jaresko, Alexander Kvitashvili and Aivaras Abromavičius to enable them to join the government. 

On 2 December, Jaresko was appointed finance minister in the new Cabinet of Ministers.
