Over the past day, five Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and one was shell-shocked by gunfire in the zone of the antiterrorist operation in Donbass, the press officer of the Ministry of Defence Col. Andriy Lysenko told a briefing on Wednesday, 7 December.
"Fortunately, no Ukrainian soldiers were killed," he added.
Lysenko also noted an increase in militant combat activities and intensity of the attacks, particularly in the Mariupol sector.
"The ATO headquarters believe it may be connected with the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.
In the past day, the Russian-backed militants 45 times opened fire on the positions of the Ukrainian forces in Donbas.
