Severe and pernicious epidemics could soon break out in Mariupol.
This was reported on the Mariupol City Council's Telegram channel.
Among the reasons are the lack of centralized water supply and drainage, decay of thousands of corpses under the rubble, and the catastrophic lack of drinking water and food.
“Cholera, dysentery and E. coli. About 100,000 Mariupol residents are in deadly danger not only from shelling but also from unbearable living conditions and unsanitary conditions. The temperature is already reaching 20 degrees Celsius. Therefore, severe and deadly epidemics could soon break out in the city,” the report says.
The mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko stated that the occupants are unable to provide the remaining population with food, water and medicines.
“Or just not interested in it. They block all attempts to evacuate. But without this, people will die. After all, living conditions in ruined Mariupol are now medieval. We need immediate and complete evacuation,” Boychenko said.
The Kremlin refused to agree with the UN Secretary-General on the evacuation of people from Mariupol. Putin's spokesman said that “no specific agreements were reached”.
The adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko said that the occupants treat Mariupol residents as slaves, turning the city into a real ghetto. The movement inside the city is restricted, and permits are issued to stay outside.
