The State Audit Service recorded numerous violations during the audit of the National Reserve Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. In particular, LB.ua managed to find out from its own sources, there are 36 newly constructed unauthorized buildings.

All of them, according to the sources, are commercial premises and outbuildings (i.e., not directly related to monastic life/household activities).

In addition, the management of the UOC-MP monastery, which had been located in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra for many years, destroyed an architectural monument – an ancient fence on Blyzhnyopecherska Street, the audit notes.

The auditors also found facts of illegal transfer of cultural heritage monuments to the Kyiv metropolitan see, the Private Academy and the UOC Academy.

The audit covered the period from 1 January 2018 to 30 September 2022.

On 10 March, the acting director general of the National Reserve Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Oleksandr Rudnyk, warned the UOC-MP monastery of the need to vacate the buildings and structures of the National Reserve by 29 March. The reason for the eviction was the monastery's violation of the terms of the contract for the use of state property.
