Over the past 24 hours, Russia lost 535 of its military killed and wounded near Bakhmut, the spokesman for the Military Command East, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the news telethon.
According to him, supplies continue to be delivered to the city, and wounded Ukrainian soldiers are being taken out of the city.
Over the last day, 157 attacks and 53 combat engagements were registered. The Russians lost 221 people killed and 314 wounded.
"Our logistics, engineers and commanders on the ground are doing everything possible to provide soldiers with ammunition, food, ammunition, medicines and to transport the wounded to safer places," Cherevatyy said.
Ground Troops Commander Oleksandr Syrskyy said that Bakhmut is being held to gain time to accumulate reserves and launch a spring counteroffensive.
