Some 28,000 volunteers have applied to join the Assault Guard. Almost all the units of the Interior Ministry's assault brigades have already been formed, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has said on the air of the news telethon.
"We have already accepted 28,000 applications from volunteers. First of all, the applications were submitted through the Centres for Administrative Services and the relevant website. Of course, not everyone gets into these units because the selection process is quite tough. We have already started the training at the training grounds of our country and not everyone can withstand it," Klymenko emphasized.
He noted that the exercises would last as long as necessary to train combat-ready units of the National Guard, State Border Service and National Police, which are now called the Assault Guard."
According to him, the units have practically been formed.
"The units have mostly been formed and today we are recruiting additional volunteers to have a reserve for the future," Klymenko added.
