Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost three commanders of one of its most prestigious airborne regiments, reports British Ministry of Defence intelligence.

It is noted that the aforementioned commanders were either eliminated or resigned. For example, the commander of the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment, Colonel Vasyl Popov, was probably killed in the Orikhiv direction in early September 2023.

"Only a few weeks before, in August 2023, his predecessor, Colonel Pylyp Popov, probably resigned," the intelligence writes.

In the first weeks of the Russian invasion, the then-commander of the 247th Regiment, Colonel Kostyantyn Zizevskyy, was eliminated near Mykolayiv.

"The experience of the 247th Regiment highlights the extreme depletion and high turnover of personnel in the Russian armed forces, even among relatively high-ranking officers," the intelligence adds.

The 247th Air Assault Caucasian Cossack Regiment is stationed in Stavropol. It is part of the 7th Air Assault Division, which is stationed in the Southern Military District.
