Explosions were heard at night in the Russian city of Voronezh, where the airfield from which Ukraine is being shelled is located. Eyewitnesses wrote on social media that drones were flying over the city, the Russian-language bureau of Radio Liberty reports.

Telegram channels reported that several residential buildings were allegedly damaged by falling debris. Windows were smashed, and one of them had a fire on the balcony.

A number of other media reported explosions near the airport. The airport is used by the Russian Aerospace Forces to launch strikes against Ukraine.

The local authorities have declared a state of emergency in the city, the mayor of Voronezh said. The governor says that all UAVs have been shot down or neutralised.
