Switzerland will host a global peace summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced at a joint press conference with President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd.
Ukraine and Switzerland are starting preparations for the summit at the level of leaders. According to Zelenskyy, they will begin on 16 January.
"Our teams will start preparations for the global peace summit in Switzerland tomorrow. This summit should power up everything that has already been achieved and should determine that the end of the war should be only fair, and the power of international law restored completely indeed," he pointed out.
Zelenskyy added that the summit is open to all countries that respect "our sovereignty and territorial integrity". The president would like to see the countries of the Global South, as well as the leaders of the countries that joined the Davos event in particular, participate.
"It is very important for us to show that the whole world is against Russia's aggression. And the whole world is for a just peace," Zelenskyy said.
