In Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. This was reported by the Ukrainian presidency.
Zelenskyy and Stoltenberg discussed the situation on the battlefield. The President informed about the recent massive Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities and communities. The Head of State stressed the importance of further strengthening the Ukrainian air defence system.
The parties also discussed other defence needs of Ukraine. They noted the importance of signing the bilateral Agreement on Security Cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom in the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted at the previous NATO Summit in Vilnius.
The President told they continue to work on similar documents with other partners and stressed the importance of immediate signing of such agreements that will be in force until Ukraine joins NATO.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Jens Stoltenberg discussed the preparations for the next NATO Summit in Washington. The Head of State stressed that Ukraine expects decisions that will bring its membership in NATOcloser to be made.
