Volodymyr Zelenskyy met President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
According to the head of state, the conversation focused on the key priorities of relations between Ukraine and the EU in the near future.
Zelenskyy announced an agreement to analyse the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU law.
"We agreed to start screening Ukrainian legislation. This is another step towards the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union," the president said.
A deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, said that according to the agreements, the screening should start as soon as the Ukrainian delegation arrives in Brussels, Yevropeyska Pravda reports. "The government should make efforts to ensure that this happens no later than in a week," Zhovkva said.
Ursula von der Leyen noted on X that "the Commission is taking the accession process forward. And securing the means to recover, rebuild and reform via the Ukraine Facility".
