The Special Reconnaissance Detachment of the Ukrainian Navy Angels conducted a multi-stage special operation to evacuate a marine from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

While performing the mission, the marine was taken prisoner by Russia, where he spent about a year and a half. During this time, he repeatedly became a victim of and witnessed torture and abuse of Ukrainian prisoners.

Since the first days of his captivity, the servicemen of the Special Intelligence Unit of the Ukrainian Navy Angels have been looking for ways to bring the marine back. They also supported his mother Olha, who works as a Ukrainian language teacher, in every way possible.

"Until the last moment, I could not believe that it was possible. A year ago, on Marine Corps Day, the Angels came and promised to bring him back. A year has passed and Sasha is now home. I still can't believe it. I am very grateful to the guys for bringing my son back," says Olha.

It took a lot of effort to free Oleksandr. As a result of a complex and multi-stage operation developed by the Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Naval Forces Command, the Angels managed to successfully evacuate and return the 29-year-old marine. For security reasons, the details of the operation are not disclosed.

The meeting between mother and son took place in the office of the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neyizhpapa, who personally supervised the operation at all stages.

Oleksandr became the 69th person to be successfully evacuated by the Angels to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. However, in addition to evacuating people from the territories controlled by the Russian occupiers, the unit performs a wide range of tasks.

The Command of the Ukrainian Navy expresses its gratitude to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba for his assistance in conducting this operation.
