Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyy held a ‘constructive and fruitful’ meeting with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.
Syrskyy wrote about it on his Facebook page.
He said that he had informed the Pentagon chief about the strategic situation at the front and the peculiarities of the development of the operational situation in the most difficult areas of Ukrainian troops' operations.
‘During the conversation, I stressed the importance of systematic and uninterrupted support of the Ukrainian Defence Forces with weapons and military equipment from allies, especially the United States. In this context, I once again stressed the need to achieve, if not superiority, then at least parity with the enemy in the nomenclature of the main types of military equipment and ammunition,’ Syrskyy said.
The interlocutors also discussed in detail the use of certain munitions, strengthening air defence capabilities and a number of other issues that will have an impact on the frontline in the future.
Syrskyy thanked Chairman Austin for his clear and consistent position in support of Ukraine and his personal contribution to the establishment and organisation of the Ramstein meetings.
