On 16 January, the Russian military attacked Ukraine with 55 Shahed attack drones and various types of imitation drones. Air defence systems shot down 34 of them, while another 18 were locally lost.
According to the Air Force, Russia launched drones from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
As of 09.00, 34 Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones were confirmed downed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Mykolayiv Regions.
Several UAVs hit a farm in Chernihiv Region, and private houses in Kharkiv and Poltava Regions were damaged by debris of downed Russian drones.
