The Russian army is trying to cover Pokrovsk from the south and southwest to avoid direct assaults on the city.
This was reported by Viktor Trehubov, a spokesman for the Khortytsya military unit, on Suspilne TV channel.
He noted that the Russian army is making such attempts to continue to break through to the north. At the same time, this is a difficult task for the enemy.
‘They (Russians - ed.) did not go to urban battles as usual, but are trying to cover the city, trying to somehow save people,’ the spokesman said.
At the same time, the military emphasises that the territory near the towns of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad is ‘normally fortified’.
‘The Russians are not trying to break through, they have reached the southern outskirts of the city, but have not entered the city and are going around. They are not trying to go into the city itself, because they understand that it is too difficult for them. This is probably the first situation in the entire war when the Russians started acting as if their resources were really limited, as if there was a limit,’ Tregubov adds.
- The Russian army continues to focus its main efforts on the Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, Lyman and Kursk directions, where heavy fighting continues.
