On the opening day of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the city authorities, together with the official partners of the event, are organising a Day of Ukraine, during which three documentaries about the Russian-Ukrainian war will be screened.

According to a press release from the organisers, the event ‘will serve as a reminder that artists, authors and journalists have an obligation to tell about the war in the heart of Europe, which has been affecting the Ukrainian people and the whole world for three years now’.

The special Day of Ukraine programme features the films Zelensky by Yves Jolland, Lise Vapné, and Ariane Chemin about the Ukrainian President’s life; Our War by Bernard-Henri Lévy, focusing on battles near Pokrovsk and in the Sumy Region; and 2,000 Metres to Andriivka by Oscar-winning director Mstyslav Chernov.
