President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated his refusal to travel to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin. In an interview with ABC, he stressed that this invitation is just a delaying tactic, as the Kremlin understands that he will not agree to it.
The President stressed that Ukraine is not refusing to negotiate with Russia and is ready to hold talks in both bilateral and trilateral formats. But not in Russia.
"He can come to Kyiv. If a person does not want to meet during the war, of course, he can offer something that I or others cannot accept. That is understandable. I cannot go to Moscow while my country is under rocket fire and attacks every day. I cannot go to the terrorist's capital. And he understands that. I have the same proposal as I said, that he can come," he commented.
- During a conversation with journalists, Putin said that he was inviting the Ukrainian president to Moscow. Putin, who had not previously signalled his readiness to meet with Zelenskyy, the necessity of which had been emphasised by Ukraine and the United States, said that he was ‘ready’ and that he had told Trump that he was inviting Zelenskyy to Moscow.
