Drones strike oil facilities in Perm Krai and Orsk, triggering major fires

On 29 April, drones attacked Perm Krai. Governor Dmitriy Makhonin confirmed an attack on an “industrial site” in the Perm Municipal District.

Staff were evacuated; there were no casualties. Judging by footage on social media, a major fire broke out at the site of the strike.

According to the OSINT channel Exilenova+, a hub station of the Transneft system in Perm was hit; this station is used to pump and distribute oil via main pipelines.

Drones also attacked the oil refinery in Orsk. Mayor Artem Vorobyov urged residents not to go out into the streets. The airport has suspended flights.

ASTRA reports that Orsknefteorgsintez is one of Russia’s largest refineries. Its refining capacity is approximately 6 million tonnes of oil per year. The refinery produces petrol, fuel oil, bitumen, aviation fuel and other petroleum products.

The refinery in Orsk has been targeted by drones before.
