Border guards reported thwarting a large-scale Russian tank assault in the Dobropillya sector. Details were shared by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
It was one of the biggest tank breakthrough attempts in recent times. As the Border Guard Service explained, the advance was stopped thanks to the actions of the Phoenix unit in coordination with adjacent defence forces.
During the battle, defenders destroyed 9 tanks, 2 armored combat vehicles, and 3 Grad multiple rocket launchers. They also said several dozen Russian troops were eliminated.
“All that armoured ‘grandeur’ was left to burn out among the fields and tree lines of Donetsk Region,” the border guards added.
- Yesterday, border guards took down a “fat target,” and fighters from the Phoenix unit also operated successfully. They destroyed a Russian Buk-M3 in Donetsk Region. The cost of the surface-to-air missile system is $50 million. Defenders hit the Buk-M3 while it was on the move.
- Also in the Dobropillya sector, fighters from the State Border Guard Service “took out” three units of Russian artillery. The strike hit Msta-B and Giatsint-B howitzers, as well as a BM-21 Grad.
