Russian authorities have officially allowed the conscription of people convicted of serious criminal offenses into military service.
This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.
In this way, the Kremlin is trying to make up for massive manpower losses in the war against Ukraine.
Previously, the Russian regime had already carried out large-scale recruitment of foreigners, conscripts, students, and residents of Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories. Prigozhin was the first to begin bringing prisoners into the effort; however, at the time this practice was not secured at the legislative level, and it sparked debate in Russian society.
Now the Russian authorities are seeking to cover the losses of their own army at any cost.
