American blogger Laura Loomer may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a visit to Kyiv.
She said so on the social network X.
“Maybe I’ll be able to meet with President Zelenskyy while I’m in Ukraine,” she wrote.
Loomer also asked followers what questions should be put to the president.
Her meeting with Zelenskyy has not yet been officially announced.
- Conservative blogger Laura Loomer is described as close to US President Donald Trump. She has previously criticised US budget-funded financial aid to Ukraine and the Ukrainian authorities.
- In April last year, the BBC, citing its American media partners, reported that Trump fired three members of the National Security Council after Loomer urged him to do so.
- Loomer now presents herself as an investigative journalist. On X alone, she has 1.9 million followers.
- On 20 July, the blogger arrived in Kyiv. At the start of her visit, responding to a post by the Russian TV channel RT, she wrote that she had previously “lived in a media bubble and under the influence of Russian propaganda,” which is why she came to Ukraine “to see the country with my own eyes.”
- In Kyiv, Loomer visited the site of a Russian strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. She also had lunch at the Lukyanivka McDonald’s, which has been hit at least seven times by Russian missile strikes but has resumed operations each time.
