US President Donald Trump has realized who truly does not want to stop the war and that Ukraine genuinely wants peace.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with American far-right blogger Laura Loomer.

“I think the president clearly understood who truly does not want to stop the war. I think so... He understood that it is we who want to stop them. He understood that we truly want peace. Because earlier there were many voices saying that supposedly Ukraine does not want to stop... But first and foremost we are focused on human lives. So if tomorrow we can stop the war, achieve a ceasefire — that is better than fighting for 10–20 years for the sake of victory and losing our people. Of course, a ceasefire is better,” the head of state said.

The Ukrainian president also backed combining sanctions against Russia and Iran into a single bill.

“Yes, we support this idea... I believe this idea is strong because you can unite different people in Congress, the Senate. You can bring together people where some support sanctions against Iran and others support sanctions against Russia,” Zelenskyy added.

  • Trump has repeatedly said in his comments that Zelenskyy and Putin do not want to make concessions to each other and end the war.
  • After a quarrel with the Ukrainian president in the Oval Office, the American leader even accused Zelenskyy of supposedly “not wanting peace.”
  • The United States served as a mediator in talks between Ukraine and Russia, but later withdrew from the process, saying the situation had reached a dead end.
