The Security Service of Ukraine has completed its pre-trial investigation into a specialist at one of Mykolayiv Region’s research and design institutions, who is suspected of attempting to illegally take abroad technical developments in the shipbuilding sector.
This was reported by the SBU Directorate in Mykolayiv Region.
According to the investigation, the scientist planned to pass design documentation to representatives of a foreign company in one of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Law enforcement officials say these materials cannot be transferred abroad without a special state permit.
To conceal the documentation from customs control, the man stored the relevant files on an electronic storage device, which he intended to take out of Ukraine.
The suspect was detained at one of the international road border crossing points while attempting to take the materials out.
During checks and a search at the man’s place of residence, law enforcement officers seized computers, electronic storage devices, technical documentation and other materials. According to the investigation, they may indicate preparations to hand the developments over to a foreign company.
The pre-trial investigation has now been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court.
