Overnight and on the morning of 23 October, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Zhytomyr, Volyn, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi and Rivne regions. As a result of the attacks, more than 500,000 Ukrainians were left without electricity. Energy workers have already begun emergency repair and restoration work where the security situation allows, First Deputy Energy Minister Andrii Nekrasov said at a briefing.
In the Odesa and Ternopil regions, efforts to deal with the aftermath of previous attacks are ongoing. Repair crews continue to restore damaged equipment and networks.
Due to constant shelling and fighting, new power outages have occurred in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Specialists will begin work to restore electricity supply as soon as security conditions allow. The work of energy workers is complicated by constant shelling.
Nekrasov added that Ukraine has launched the eOpora portal — a single information resource with practical advice and up-to-date information on preparing for winter, state support and assistance for the public.
