ATO trooper killed, five wounded amid Xmas ceasefire

Six enemy shelling attacks reported.

Militants in Donbas six times violated the ceasefire accord on Tuesday, 26 December. Amid the enemy shelling, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, three wounded, and two sustained combat traumas, according to an ATO HQ report on Wednesday morning. In the Luhansk sector, the militants repeatedly breached the ceasefire in the Svitlodarst bulge area. Opposite Luhanske, they for about two hours fired 82-mm mortars and heavy machine guns at the positions of the Ukrainian military.

Ukrainian defenders of Stanytsya Luhanska were under the small arms fire.

Enemy UFV corrected the enemy mortar fire in the Luhansk sector.

In other key sectors, no ceasefire violations were reported.

The Christmas ceasefire deal came into force on 23 December. Despite an overall reduction in the number of shelling attacks, one Ukrainian military was killed on the very first day of the ceasefire.

Since the beginning of the year, 191 servicemen were killed in the ATO zone, the General Staff reported.
