Over the past day, militants twice violated the ceasefire in Donbas. Ukrainian servicemen returned fire, the press center of the anti-terrorist operation said in a Facebook release on Tuesday, 26 December.
"Despite the overall mutual adherence to the ceasefire regime throughout the whole day, Russian-occupation troops after dark resorted to provocation and fired weapons prohibited by Minsk agreements at the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces," the report said.
In the Donetsk sector, the terrorists at around 7 pm fired at the ATO defence fortifications near the settlement of Pavlopil on the Azov Sea coast. Also, the enemy released 120-mm mortar projectiles from the temporarily occupied Sosnovskyy.
In the Luhansk sector, the militants shelled our strong points outside Stanytsya Luhanskaya from small arms.
Enemy drones were spotted in the vicinity of the settlement Novhorodske.
The ATO troops sustained no losses.
The Tripartite Contact Group and representatives of the "DPR" and "LPR" on 20 December agreed on a new ceasefire starting midnight on December 23.
The parties confirmed adherence to the plans to exchange hostages before the holidays.
