A five-month baby in Odesa Region died from complications caused by measles.

This is the sixth fatality since the beginning of 2018, according to Viktor Lyashko, deputy director-general for the monitoring of infectious diseases at the Centre for Public Health, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Four children and two adults died have died from measles to date.

"The situation with measles incidence continues to be difficult, and 828 people fell ill last week, which is slightly more than during the previous week, but we hope that we are past the peak that happened at the end of January," he said.

Since the beginning of the year, 5,097 people, including 1,693 adults and 3,404 children were ill with measles.
