Local elections

Exclusive: Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has scored 50.6% of votes and thus succeeded in his re-election bid, LB.ua editor in chief Sonya Koshkina has said on Telegram after 99.5% of ballots have been counted. He is followed by Oleksandr Popov from the pro-Russian Opposition Platform-For Life with 9.5%.

Servant of the People MP Zinoviy Andriyovych has said he will leave parliament to head the Nadvirna united territorial community after the local elections.

According to the Opora election watchdog NGO, the most widespread violations during the local elections included attempts to illegally receive ballots, voting outside a booth and other improper behavior, attempts to photograph and stuff ballots. However, they did not affect the election results.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, the turnout in the local elections was 36.88%. The highest turnout was registered in Ternopil (44.68%), Lviv (43.82%) and Volyn (41.89%) regions.

Hungary

Ukraine has barred two high-ranking Hungarian officials for campaigning in Transcarpathian Region during the local elections there, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said. One of them is the state secretary of the Hungarian prime minister's chancellery.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has summoned Hungarian ambassador István Íjgyártó and handed him a note of protest over the political campaigning by Hungarian officials in favour of one of political parties – the Party of Hungarians-Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathian Region – in the Ukrainian local elections.

Coronavirus

Ukraine has registered 5,426 Covid-19 cases and 1,029 recoveries in 24 hours, according to the National Security and Defence Council.

The Crimean Tatar Majlis has called on the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission to visit occupied Crimea "due to the catastrophic epidemiological situation caused by the high pace of infection with Covid-19".

Economy

The council head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Bohdan Danylyshyn, has said that over $25bn have been transferred from Ukraine to foreign creditors over 3.5 years.

Military

At a meeting between the presidents of Turkey and Ukraine, Ankara has expressed interest in completing the second copy of the world's largest transport aircraft An-225 Mriya, according to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Uruskyy. Turkey may also buy An-178 mid-range transport aircraft.

Crime

Zhytomyr's Bohunskyy district court has exonerated former Crimean MP Vasyl Hanysh, who was convicted of high treason, UNIAN has quoted a source in the Crimean prosecutor's office as saying. The decision was allegedly taken due to his health condition.

In Novoaydar District of Luhansk Region, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a militant of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic who has fought against Ukraine since 2014.
