Ukraine has handed over to the USA the list of the most urgent needs of the Armed Forces, hoping for US assistance, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has told Deutsche Welle. "We don't expect foreign troops to arrive to help us. But we expect our partners to provide Ukraine with the support they can offer us to help us hold out in this conflict for our country," he said.

On the morning of 16 May, Ukraine reported 3,620 new Covid-19 cases and 133 coronavirus-related fatalities.

Cherkasy Region has moved into the orange quarantine zone while all other regions and Kyiv remained yellow.

Next week Ukraine expects to receive 473,850 doses of the Comirnaty vaccine by Pfizer-BioNTech most of which are reserved for teachers, chief sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko has said.

Another Ukrainian serviceman died of the coronavirus, bringing the total death count in the army to 89, the Medical Forces Command has said. As of 15 May, there were 487 servicemen diagnosed as sick with the coronavirus.
