Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is controlled by Ukraine. However, the military of the Russian Federation still have the perimeter and are still within the city of Enerhodar. This is reported by the advisor of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vadym Denysenko on the air during a TV marathon, the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine “Suspilne” reports.
Previously, the Russian military bombarded Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant located within the city. As a result, there was a fire. Two Ukrainian military defenders were killed, and another two were wounded. No one among the plant’s staff was hurt.
After the artillery attack on the industrial site of the plant, the reactor building of power block 1 was damaged. Two shells hit the spent nuclear fuel dry storage facility area.
The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate announced that the degree of damage to the structures and systems of these nuclear facilities and their impact on safety requires additional assessments based on the results of thorough examination by special services.

At the moment, operating staff monitoring the condition of power units worked under the pressure of armed Russian soldiers who captured the plant.
No changes in the radiation status in the Zaporizhia region have been recorded, the gamma radiation background is within normal limits.
At the same time, Energoatom, the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine, published data modeling the movement of air masses within the first 9 hours in case of an accident at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
The agency emphasizes that the model of distribution and trajectory of air masses from the industrial site was developed in the case of a hypothetical accident.
