Xi Jinping after Biden's call: China and the United States must share international responsibility and work for peace

China and the United States must not only steer their relations in the right direction, but also take on international responsibility and work for peace and composure all around the world. The statement was made by China’s President Xi Jinping after a video call with US President Joe Biden, Xinhua reports.

Mr Xi noted that the international landscape has now changed and the world is neither calm nor stable. "The Ukrainian crisis (the war unleashed by Russia - editorial editing) is not what we want," the China’s leader said.

Mr Xi said that no one is interested in conflicts and confrontation, and that peace and security are what the world community must preserve.

The conversation between the heads of two states was initiated by the American side. Earlier, the FT wrote that after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Russia allegedly asked China for military aid.

China says it is not going to fight against Ukraine and is sending humanitarian aid. At the same time, China opposes the transfer of American weapons to Ukraine.
