Russia is preparing response to Ukraine's proposals on peace treaty - Lavrov

Russia is preparing a reaction to Ukraine's proposals for a peace treaty.

This was announced at a press conference by Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, RBC-Ukraine reports.

"The Ukrainian side has put down on paper its vision of the agreements that need to be reached. These agreements must be formed. We are preparing a reaction," he said.

According to him, the proposals include "moving forward" regarding the neutral status of Ukraine.

"Non-nuclear non-bloc neutral status is what is now perceived as an absolute necessity. We saw a much better understanding of another reality - the situation with Crimea and Donbas," he added.

On March 29, Russia offered to hold a meeting of Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin simultaneously with the signing of a peace treaty. The peace agreement must be signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries.

At the same time, the UK does not advise Ukraine to conclude a peace agreement with Russia. Britain is concerned that the United States, France and Germany will push Ukraine to "settle" the situation and make significant concessions in peace talks with Russia.

Today, April 1, the talks between Ukrainian and Russian negotiating groups continued.

The preliminary face-to-face round of talks between Ukraine and Russia was held in Istanbul on March 29. Ukraine has proposed that the Member States of the UN Security Council - Britain, China, Russia, the United States, France, Turkey, Germany, Canada, Italy, Poland, Israel provide our country with security guarantees similar to the principle of NATO's collective security. In particular, in case of a new attack on Ukraine within three days, the guarantor countries must provide military assistance, armaments and create a no-fly zone.

The United Kingdom is ready to become one of the guarantors of security for Ukraine in the case of signing a relevant international agreement. At the same time, The Times writes that Britain is concerned that the United States, France and Germany will push Ukraine to "settle" the situation and make significant concessions in peace talks with Russia.

Germany also confirmed its readiness, but only after the end of the war. The United States says that there are no specifics on this issue yet.
