On 4 April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Bucha, Irpen and Stoyanka - the territories of Kyiv region liberated from russian troops.
According to the President's website, Zelenskyy visited a humanitarian aid center in Bucha and spoke to journalists and residents.
The Mayor of Bucha, Anatoliy Fedoruk, explained how the humanitarian system works, spoke about the ongoing status of the search for the bodies, the destruction committed by russians and plans for the reconstruction of Bucha.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy presented Fedoruk with the Order of Courage of the Third Degree.
The President of Ukraine inspected the road covered with the destroyed equipment of russian troops, as well as the destroyed bridge across the Irpin River on the highway M-06 Kyiv - Chop.
Zelensky stressed that part of the bridge will be repaired and opened in a few months this year. And according to the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, preparations are underway for the construction of a temporary crossing, which should be opened in about two weeks. Full-fledged traffic on one lane across the bridge can be launched in two months, and both lanes - in three or four months.
The President also visited the destroyed bridge across the Irpin River on the R-30 highway. According to the President's press service, it will take ten days to build a temporary crossing, and a full-fledged repair of the building will take two or three months.
After visiting Bucha, Irpin and Stoyanka, Zelenskyy posted on his Facebook: "We will do our best to bring them back to life as soon as possible".
During a meeting with journalists in Bucha, the President of Ukraine stressed that the killing of civilians in Bucha is a war crime and will be recognized by the world as genocide. He also added that the massacres in Bucha and in other cities are in a way the consequences of “flirting” between European leaders and russia.
