Russia Plans to Send Crimean Doctors to Front Line – Representative of President in Crimea

The occupational authorities of Crimea intend to send Crimean doctors to the front line of the military action in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This has been reported by the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“At the beginning of April, the occupational Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Crimea asked the heads of medical institutions on the peninsula to “organise work with the staff of medical institutions for engaging doctors and nurses who are ready to go to the LDPR and provide professional aid to the medical organisations in the Donbas on a voluntary basis,” the Representative reports.

According to the information given by the Ukrainian side, Russian occupiers emphasise that the costs of accommodation and food for the Crimean medical workers are assumed by “the host of the Donbas”.

“The relevant information about the doctors who “voluntarily” want to go to the front line is expected to be received from all Crimean medical institutions. Officially, it is about voluntary involvement, but the medical workers of the peninsula are rather afraid that, given the low level of enthusiasm among the doctors, de facto, they will be forced to go to CADLR,” the Representative adds.

At the end of March, the ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova reported a forced mobilisation of men in temporarily occupied Crimea for participating in the war with Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European External Action Service condemned these actions of the Russian Federation.
