In Kherson, the occupiers distribute flyers in which they blame the Ukrainians themselves and their elected authorities for the russian aggression. “The misfortune that has befallen you is the result of the criminal policies of the Kyiv regime,” the flyers state. They call the war itself “an operation to eliminate antinational Kyiv regime”.
That was reported by the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The occupation administration of Kherson is trying to convince the local population that the crimes of the russian federation in Ukraine are committed for the benefit of the people, and “the armed forces of the russian federation are not at war with the Ukrainian people”. The war supposedly started because of "western plans" to destroy the russian and Ukrainian nations.
Ukrainians are urged to cooperate with the russians and warned of the danger of approaching the occupation troops. The flyer also claims that “the russian army is not fighting Ukrainian soldiers and is not shelling civilians”.
“In fact, such actions by russian propagandists are a direct admission that this war has nothing to do with the mythical “protection of Donbas”. Its goal is the obliteration of Ukrainian statehood and the occupation of all of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian intelligence service noted.
The occupants make a special note: “Don't think it will be quick and painless”.
“This statement becomes especially relevant considering that, according to satellite images by Planet Lab, at least 824 new graves have appeared in the Kherson city cemetery during the occupation,” CDI says.
Russian army occupied Kherson on the first day of the war. In spite of this, there are rallies in the city almost every day. Residents of the city point out that Kherson is a Ukrainian city. The occupiers throw stun grenades and use tear gas against protesters, but people continue to protest peacefully.
On March 6, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the titles of “Hero Cities” to Kherson, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Gostomel, and Volnovakha.
