The occupiers completely removed all valuable exhibits from the Museum of Local Lore and the Art Museum. The adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andryushchenko reported about it.
According to him, seven original masterpieces were kept in Mariupol, which, according to preliminary information, were handed over to the occupiers by the director of the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore Natalia Kapusnykova. She knew the exact location of the secret storage of the masterpieces and personally passed everything from hand to hand.
Among the looted items are paintings by Arkhip Kuindzhi ("Red Sunset", "Autumn", "Elbrus"), a painting by Aivazovsky ("On the shores of the Caucasus"), three unique icons (Jesus Christ Pantocrator, Our Lady with the Baby, John the Baptist) and other masterpieces of Ukrainian culture.
