UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited Borodyanka and the Kyiv region during his visit to Ukraine.

He announced this on his Twitter.

"I imagine my family in one of these houses, now ruined and black... I see my grandchildren fleeing in panic. War cannot be acceptable in the 21st century," Guterres said.

Borodyanka of the Bucha district has been captured by the russians since the first days of the war. The enemy razed it to the ground, striking with a variety of weapons. During the occupation, russian troops did not allow the opening of green corridors for the evacuation of civilians.

On April 1, Borodyanka was released. After clearing the territories of the Kyiv region, the scale of the atrocities they committed against civilians became clear. With children, women, the elderly, men - all without exception. Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova noted that the worst situation in Borodyanka was with victims of russian war crimes in the Kyiv region.

On April 27 the UN Secretary General arrived at Ukraine. Prior to that, he visited Moscow, where he met with russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The UN Secretary General also met with Vladimir Putin. They discussed proposals for humanitarian aid and the evacuation of civilians from conflict zones in connection with the situation in Mariupol.

At the end of the meeting, Guterres' spokesman said that Putin had agreed to evacuate civilians from Azovstal. However, the next day the Kremlin said that "there were no specific agreements on assistance in evacuating civilians from Azovstal."

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he hoped that Guterres' visit to Moscow and then to Kyiv was "really about aid, not political tourism." Zelenskyy also stated that he expects 100% support from the UN Secretary General. He announced that Guterres was likely to visit places where Ukrainians were tortured by the russian military.
