Even though the war in Ukraine is continuing and there is still a threat of missile strikes, people are going back to their hometowns "not only because of optimism but also because they are facing financial problems".
The Deputy Minister of Defence Hanna Malyar said that on the air of the TV marathon as cited by RBC-Ukraine.
"You should understand that people are running out of money. To live somewhere while not working, to pay rent, to eat – this must be understood. I mean, it's not only caused by optimism… People are going back, most likely, because of the difficult situation and they're forced to go back for financial reasons," – Malyar stated.
She also pointed out that those Ukrainians who have the means to stay and keep their children abroad do exactly so.
"If you are coming back, please, treat all the security measures seriously, and, if there are air raid sirens, take those security measures and go down to safe places [shelters – tr.]," – Malyar noted.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has previously reported that the number of citizens coming back to Ukraine keeps increasing.
