The Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy supported the initiative of Ukrainian scientists, journalists and political scientists to recognize the term "russism" at the national and international levels, reported the press service of the committee.
According to the members of parliament, this term refers to the ideology built in russia, "which today manifests itself in the military actions of the russian army in Ukraine and the attitude of russian society to this war."
"We consider it necessary to give an official definition of the term "russism" and its derivatives on the basis of already published articles by Ukrainian and foreign authors with the inclusion of this term in the official terminological dictionaries of the Ukrainian language," the committee said.
Members of parliament called on media organizations and journalists to "fully and frequently use the word "russism" and its derivatives in their publications and broadcasts for its gradual organic inclusion in scientific, professional and conversational discourses."
