Defenders of Mariupol carried out the order to draw off the russian forces and to make it possible for the Ukrainian army to regroup, prepare more personnel and receive more ammunition from the partner countries, emphasized in his address the Commander of the Azov Regiment Denys Prokopenko.
He stated that commanding the units "always bears risk. There are no completely safe plans and operations during the war."
"You are always taking risks. The main thing is to understand if all the risks are considered, if a plan B is prepared, if you are fully committed to this plan that has to combine both the execution of the assigned task and saving the lives and health of the personnel as much as possible… Everything should be doubted – every decision made, every plan, every operation," Denys Prokopenko said.
Azov emphasized – to save lives, the whole Mariupol garrison carries out "the decision of the higher military command and hopes for the support of the Ukrainian nation".
"Maybe that's why war is art, not science. When you carried out your task and saved as many of the personnel as possible. This is the highest bar of commanding the troops. Especially when your decision is approved by the higher military command," Prokopenko added.
Yesterday the wives and the mothers of Azovstal defenders took a flight to Turkey. Women urged President Erdogan to join forces with the President of China in saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers who keep the defense of Azovstal.
Earlier families of Mariupol defenders had urged China to help with the evacuation of the Ukrainian military from the Azovstal plant blocked by russians. Our fighters can be transferred to Tukey under extraction procedure, but russia needs to be convinced.
