Ukraine and Poland in the near future will conclude a bilateral agreement on joint border and customs control, and later a single conditional border when Ukraine is a member of the EU.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this today during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.

"We agreed to implement this in the near future in the corresponding bilateral agreement. First, regarding joint border and customs control, and later a single conditional border, when Ukraine will be a member of the European Union," - the President of Ukraine said.

He assured that all necessary decisions first for the status of candidate for Ukraine, and then for full membership will certainly be adopted. In particular, thanks to Poland's centuries-old protection of Ukrainian interests on the European continent.

"And I am grateful for your willingness, Andrzej, to make visits to European capitals with the President of Slovakia Zuzanna Chaputova to lobby for Ukraine's membership in the European Union in countries - as they say, "skeptics." In fact, they are not skeptics, but future optimists. This is how I see our joint task in this direction," - the President said.

Zelenskyy also thanked the Polish Sejm for the recently adopted law on assistance to citizens of Ukraine who left for Poland because of russian aggression.

Earlier, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda is on a visit to Ukraine. Andrzej Duda and Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in the Verkhovna Rada.

The Head of State announced the introduction of the Draft Law "On Special Legal Status of Polish Citizens in Ukraine" in the near future.
