Russia's main goal remains the same: Russian troops are trying to surround the Ukrainian forces, establish full control over Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions, and ensure the stability of the land corridor with Crimea.
Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the Defense Ministry spokesman, informed about this at a briefing.
"The aggressor is shelling with tactical missile systems and aircrafts along the entire line of military activities, in the back of troops in the Donetsk operational area and in the Sloviansk direction," he said.
Russia also continues to shell with “Caliber” naval-based cruise missiles.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy is trying to restore the lost position, use reconnaissance and firing systems and shell the areas where our troops are concentrated.
In Slovyansk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are battling with enemy group that has resumed an offensive near the village of Dovhenke. Russian troops use artillery in the areas of Dibrovnoye and Vernopil.
In the Donetsk region, the enemy's main efforts are focused on the Bakhmut and Siverodonetsk directions, trying to surround units in the Severodonetsk and Lysychansk districts and reach the administrative border of Luhansk region.
"In the Siverodonetsk direction, the Armed Forces are taking measures to prevent the expansion and further advance of the Russian occupation forces. The enemy is advancing in the area of Siverodonetsk, active military activities are continued," Mr. Motuzyanyk said.
The attack in the village of Metolkine ended in failure for the occupiers - they suffered losses and retreated. At the same time, the Russians try forcing the Siversky Donets River.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Armed Forces repel the enemy's offensive, which with the support of aircrafts is trying to break through the defenses in the areas of Toshkivka, Komyshuvakha, Nyrkovo, Vasylivka, Nova Kamyanka and Myronivske. The heavy battles are ongoing. The enemy keeps the MLRS "Tochka- U" ready.
The situation in the Pivdennyj Bug direction is generally unchanged. The enemy is trying to hold the occupied territories and prevent the moving of our reserves.
In the Kryvyi Rih and Mykolayiv directions, the Russians do not stop shelling and destroy infrastructure. Rocket and tube artillery are used.
In the northern direction, the Russians shelled with artillery the positions of the defense forces in the area of Gremyach, Mykolayivka, Kucherivka, and Spasske. The threat of missile attacks and artillery shelling of the border area remains.
Volyn, Polissya - no changes. Belarusian troops of up to seven battalions are strengthening the border in Gomel and Brest regions.
In the Azov and Black Seas, Russian ships continue to conduct reconnaissance. As of today, two Caliber missile carriers with up to 16 missile shells are ready to use missiles in the Black Sea.
In Siverodonetsk, Popasna, Bakhmut, and Mariupol, Russia is using scorched earth tactics. It destroys the territory with aircrafts and shelling and then the troops come there.
To remind, from the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine till May 23 the army of the Russian Federation approximately lost 29 200 of manpower. The enemy troops suffered the most losses in the Bakhmut direction.
