The russian contingent stationed in the Transnistrian region of Moldova has been tasked with rebuilding a military airfield and equipment in Tiraspol, announced the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Maxym Martchenko.
"But it seems that for many years of staying in Transnistria, all that the russian troops accomplished was to drink away the remaining military equipment and tech. It turned out that there was nothing to restore and no way to do it. Meanwhile, according to documents, all spare parts were in stock," Martchenko noted.
He noted that Russia's plans to aggravate the situation in the region "were thwarted by the usual corruption and negligence of local officials."
Recently, the President of Moldova called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Transnistria.
In an interview with the Italian channel Rai1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia could attack Ukraine from the separatist region of Moldova.
