As of May 24, Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was announced by the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Gaidai on the #UArazom telemarathon.
"Severodonetsk is completely under the control of the Ukrainian authorities. The armed forces keep the defense. The only thing is very difficult. We understand that all the forces are now abandoned by the russians to either capture Severodonetsk or besiege the entire part of Luhansk region controlled by Ukraine." Said Gaidai.
According to him, there are no fights directly in the city of Severodonetsk. The fighting is on the outskirts, because the enemy sometimes manages to achieve some success in certain areas, especially in the villages-satellites near Severodonetsk.
Serhiy Gaidai added that the number of shellings in Severodonetsk had increased several times.
Somewhere they (occupiers) might succeed, but our guys are very motivated, they are kept there, there are weapons. Today is exactly three months since we defended, and today for exactly three months they cannot pass even a small part of Luhansk. We will keep it as long as necessary, "said the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
According to Sergey Gaiday, in the Luhansk region russia exposed 25 battalion and tactical groups, in each of which - to 500 persons.
