The russian military has relocated 50-year-old T-62 tanks to the battlefront, which may indicate a shortage of modern equipment.
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data.
Russia has failed to properly use its elite units in Ukraine and has suffered significant losses, the intelligence reports.
In recent days, russia has moved 50-year-old T-62 tanks from deep preservation to southern Ukraine. The T-62s will be particularly vulnerable to anti-tank weapons, and their presence on the battlefield emphasizes russia's shortage of modern and battle-ready equipment," the report said.
It is noted that in eastern Ukraine, russian invaders are attempting to cordon off Severodonetsk, although Ukrainian forces retain control over several protected sectors and thus prevent russia's plans to gain full control of the Donbas.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) note that the russians have already taken control of 95 percent of the Luhansk region and are likely to focus on seizing Severodonetsk in the coming days.
