A special fund has been set up in the village of Skovorodynivka in the Kharkiv region to restore the Hryhoriy Skovoroda National Literary Memorial Museum.
Its opening was announced by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine together with the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
According to the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko, it is planned to involve philanthropists and international donors in filling the fund.
“We already have preliminary agreements with a number of our Western partners that they agree to provide funds for the restoration of the museum. Currently, this is the only option to repair it quickly without delay. After all, as we know, time in this case can only worsen what was destroyed. And weather conditions as well," Tkachenko said.
Fundraising will be public and controlled by the state so that everyone can keep track of where the money is spent.
Specialists carried out the necessary inspections and determined the list of works needed to restore the museum.
Hryhoriy Skovoroda National Literary Memorial Museum was founded in 1972, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian philosopher. Skovoroda lived in this building for several years and died. The tomb of the philosopher with the legendary inscription "The world was catching me, but failed to catch" is located on the territory of the museum.
The museum was destroyed by a direct hit by a russian missile on the night of May 7. However, the collection was not damaged - it had been taken out.
