The world will be able to make Russia open the corridors for the export of Ukrainian grain when it clearly understands that not sanctions but the Russia's war caused the food crisis.

Larysa Galadza, the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, mentioned it in an interview with "Espresso".

The Ambassador mentioned that she discussed with Mykola Solsky, the Minister of Agriculture, technical issues of Canadian assistance to unblock the export of Ukrainian grain. In addition, Canada can also help the world in understanding the origins of the food crisis at the international diplomatic level.

“Russia wants the world to think that it is because of sanctions (food crisis - ed.) or because of the Western countries supervising Ukraine but is not correct at all. This crisis is because Russia attacked Ukraine, because of Russia's invasion. And when they understand this, we hope that those countries will be able to make Russia open corridors for the export of that grain, "Ms. Galadza said.

According to her, Ukraine will be able to export the amount of grain needed on the international market only through Odessa, through the sea corridors.

"400 million people a year eat the food from Ukraine. Now this food is blocked in Odessa. Canada is taking part in international meetings, including the G7, and we are looking for ways we can help," the Ambassador said.

To remind, Russia is blocking Ukrainian ports that is why it is currently impossible to export 22 million tons of grain. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, this problem that could provoke a food crisis around the world can be solved by military means, and therefore he urged foreign partners to supply the necessary weapons to Ukraine.

The European Commission has decided to create so-called "solidarity transport lines" to help Ukraine in exporting of its own agricultural products.

British intelligence said that despite attempts by the Ukrainian government and Western partners to create overland logistics routes to export grain from Ukraine, it would not help in exporting of all Ukrainian grain.
